This is the answer to the question of what happened to substance in the arts.
This is education, art and entertainment designed 2 uplift, enlighten and enrage all those who engage in its sound. This is Discopoetry: a fusion of music, movement and word as delivered by Khari B.’s Discopoetry Projects © . Continuing the tradition of the griot of African heritage through the American experience, truth rings every word; a combination of personal observation, heartfelt feeling and academic research. Every performance boils over with intense passion and ecstatic energy that takes listeners on an empowering experiential journey. Discopoetry’s live performances have staked it a place in the realm of live entertainment and the quality and substance in the work places it among proud collectives that keep the bar of excellence raised high.
Discopoetry Projects are the manifestation of conceptual undertakings through the primary vision of founder, Discopoet Khari B. From the stage to the classroom; from a single poet/musician duet to the full onslaught of combining poetry with a 32 piece Jazz orchestra and Muntu Dance Theatre, audience members have been experiencing encounters like nothing they have ever witnessed B4.
Discopoetry, in its various forms, has come to burn up international stages since 1998. Presently 3 releases R available from the Discopoetry collective, “I’MMA BAD MUTHA: The Rockstar Poetry Project” (picture Gil Scott Heron joined Rage Against the Machine jamming with the Doors and Jimi Hendrix), “WordSound: THIS AIN’T NO PUNK-ASSED POETRY!!!” (their funk/soul debut album) and "The Revolution Has Been Compromised: Honoring the Works & Words of Gil Scott-Heron" available on this page exclusively through CDBaby.
